Fellow CNC’er assembling his FLA-100 CNC Router

These are great vids of fellow CNC’er from CNCZone assembling his Fine Line Automation FLA-100. Even thought FLA posted the Solidworks Edrawings, it is not the easiest method to figure out how to put it together. My CNC is highly based on the FLA-100 rev 4, with the exception that mine is 1/2″ wider, therefore I’ll be using the vids to help me assemble it.

thanks for the video cnc build tutorials, I have settled on the Fine Line FLA100 but am researching CAD CAM and Controller software am going with Mach 3 as controller but am thoroughly confused on CAD and CAM I want to get them together in a single package. I only want to do cnc’ing as a hobby and maybe make a few dollars but I plan only to work in various woods. I prefer software that is only geared to my level of involvement. I don’t need expensive software with manufacturing tools. My question is What is the easiest to learn and suitable software for my needs. Thanks for your time Gary

I have to admit that I didn’t make those vids, I only linked them in hopes they would help others.

For the CAD end of it, I would recommend the free program called Draftsight. It is very similar to AutoCAD and will suit most of your 2D needs.

If you plan on cutting 2D shapes, I would recommend Cut 2D by Vectric, which is about $150. It is very user friendly and has an easy to understand user interface. They also have some tutorials and a vid to get you started.

If you want to do signs with text, then you would need something like Vcarve from Vectric, but that is much pricier. Mach 3 and Cut 2D have demos you can try out. If you need any further help, don’t hesitate to ask.
